The 3 P's of Writing Course Outline

The 3 P's of Writing (Grades 4-6: Tuesdays 5:15-6:15)
Week 1	Writing to Inform Students will use procedural writing to write clear and concise directions.
Week 2	Writing to Inform Students will take notes in order to write about a topic.
Week 3	Writing to Inform Students will use notes in order to write a cohesive, informative essay.
Week 4	Writing to Persuade Students will read articles about an issue and identify pros and cons about an issue.
Week 5	Writing to Persuade Students will use transition words, descriptive language, and strong verbs to make an argument about an issue.
Week 6	Writing to Persuade Students will write a well-organized, convincing persuasive essay.
Week 7	Writing for Personal Expression Students will complete a story map to identify story elements for a personal narrative.
Week 8	Writing for Personal Expresion Students will write a personal narrative with a clear beginning, middle and end.
